Onset of deforming arthropathy Dr. med. dent. H. V. Patient: B. K 63 years old, female Case history: The patient had been wearing a grinding splint prescribed by a colleague for three years with breaks. She complained of pains in the right mandible when opening the mouth. I also diagnosed terminal cracking sounds and a slight dextrodeviation of the mandible at the end of the mouth aperture. Therapy: The patient received the following treatment for the painful right side at weekly intervals over an eight week period: |
Tested basic therapy; "mandibular joint correction" programme, saliva, ear wax in the input cup After the fourth session the left side was also treated as described. Moreover treatment was not limited to the mandible but the hyoid bone was also included in treatment with the same programme. Result: The pain in the right side had already disappeared after the 4th session. Minor symptoms then briefly occurred in the left side, however these also disappeared after the 7th session. The patient has been without pain for six months and no longer wears the splint. |
